Creating Publication Website Sign up Widget
MP has a widget available for our website that will handle sign up process for a publication. Prior to following these directions, you will to know the URL this widget will exist on. Please follow these steps to set up the custom widget.
Create Publication
If you have not already done so, create the Publication record in the Publications page. https://my.northway.org/mp/376-13718
- New Publication
- Give it a Title and description. Both fields will be displayed in the MP widget on the website.
- Fill out the Name field, which can be your Title but remove all spaces
- Set Available Online = Yes
- Save
Create Email Verification Template
*NOTE It is recommended that you use the existing, generic email template for simplicity. This is not required. If you are going use the existing template, skip this section. If not, follow these steps
- Open Template Editor and create your new template.
- In your template, you MUST have hyperlinked text for them to click that will confirm their subscription. The URL to use is [mpp_verify_email_url]
- You may customize the email with the person first and last name using the tokens [mpp_contact_first_name] and [mpp_contact_last_name]
- Set the template "Pertains To Page" ⇒ Contacts
- Save your template
- Go to your MP Home ⇒ My Messages ⇒ New Message
- Insert your template, Insert ⇒ Templates ⇒ Contacts Page Templates ⇒ Your Template name
- Hover of Save button and press Save As Draft
- Find to your saved message in Messages page https://my.northway.org/mp/341
- Edit the message record and set Template = YES
Create the website widget
Use the configuration tool to create the custom widget for this publication. Each publication must have its own custom MP widget setup.
Go to Configurator https://my.northway.org/widgets/WidgetConfigurator
Select widget "Subscribe To Publications"
From Publication ID, choose your publication
Enter the URL this widget is going to exist on.
From Verification Email Template, choose the generic verification template named "__fill this out once it is created __" or your custom template.
Custom CSS, this optional path to a stylesheet. Most times, this isn't necessary as the style of the page the widget lives on will be used.
Copy the HTML code in the Embed Code section into your website.
Before copying the widget code to the website, you can use the "Try It Out" button to see it in action and verify everything is setup correctly.
